Healthcare Skills International

This is how you can develop the skills to become a more effective clinical educator, gain a formal teaching qualification, all while meeting your wider professional development goals.

We know how difficult it can be for healthcare professionals to balance professional development with their careers. Just because you need to keep up with your CPD doesn’t mean the day job stops, your other commitments pause or you suddenly get the headspace to dedicate to learning.

As healthcare professionals ourselves, we understand how hard that can be. That’s why we’ve created EduQual-endorsed and CPD-certified courses that allow healthcare professionals not only to meet their professional development requirements, but to genuinely develop new skills and gain further qualifications, with as little ‘off the job’ commitment as possible.

Take our Diploma in Clinical Education (EduQual Level 7), for example.

With just two days’ study leave required for the live virtual classroom, delegates can work towards a Level 7 diploma, gain 38 ECTS and 10 CPD points, while developing practical skills that can make them more effective clinical educators.

That’s a lot to achieve from two days away from the day job.

More than CPD

CPD is part of professional life in healthcare. You need to keep your knowledge and skills current, demonstrate ongoing development and make time for learning alongside everything else your role demands.

Our Clinical Education programme awards 10 CPD points, but we want delegates to get considerably more from the time they invest.

The programme develops practical skills in how people learn, how to engage different learners, how to communicate complex information effectively and how to assess whether learning has actually taken place. Alongside this, delegates work towards a formal Level 7 qualification in Clinical Education and the programme carries 38 ECTS.

ECTS – the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System – provides a way of expressing the volume of learning and associated workload. It considers the wider learning required to achieve defined outcomes, rather than simply counting the hours spent in a classroom.

Two days’ study leave does not mean two days’ learning.

The live virtual classroom is one part of a wider programme incorporating structured learning and assessment.

We have concentrated the live element into two days so that healthcare professionals can minimise the amount of time they need to take away from their clinical responsibilities while still undertaking a substantial programme of professional development. The 38 ECTS help demonstrate the scale of that wider learning.

This is also why it is useful to understand what each element of the programme represents:

  • EduQual Level 7 reflects the level and demand of the qualification.
  • 38 ECTS reflect the volume of learning and workload involved.
  • 10 CPD points contribute to your continuing professional development.

They are three different measures, but together they demonstrate just how much delegates can gain from the programme.

Make your professional development count

When choosing your next professional development course, look carefully at what you will have to show for the time you invest.

CPD is important, but the right programme can give you much more: new skills you can use in your role, a formal qualification that demonstrates those skills and measurable professional development alongside it.

Our Diploma in Clinical Education (EduQual Level 7) does exactly that.

You develop practical skills that can make you a more effective clinical educator, work towards a formal Level 7 qualification in Clinical Education, gain 38 ECTS and 10 CPD points, with just two days’ study leave required for the live virtual classroom.

If you are going to invest in your professional development, choose something that gives you more to show for it.
